Room options

At Stephens House & Gardens we have a variety of rooms for meetings and functions both business and private. Our smaller rooms are ideal for meetings for between 5 and 20 people whilst larger functions for up to 70 guests in a single room can be held on the ground floor. Our rooms are normally available for hire between 08:00 and 23:00 weekdays and 09:00 and 23:30 at weekends.

The elegant rooms on the ground floor are the usual base for conferences, offering large screen facilities for professional presentations and formal lectures. The Drawing Room provides ideal surroundings for club or association dinners with its relaxed atmosphere in a formal setting. The Drawing Room is also suitable for receptions and if you would like more space it can be used in conjunction with the the Salon.

The Stephens Room is on the first floor for workshops, discussion areas or smaller conferences. This room caters for up to 60 people.  

In short, Stephens House & Gardens is an ideal setting for a wide range of business, governmental, charity, community and family functions.

Please note that all our accessible rooms and facilities are currently only available on the ground floor.

For larger events such as outdoor activities and team building, the gardens provide a variety of suitable spaces.

The lower green can be made private 

The Terrace adjacent to the house can hold a temporary structure to enable events to increase capacity beyond that of our main rooms.


Light refreshments, hot and cold drinks and snacks are always available from our staff and every kind of catering from a basic working breakfast to a full banquet can be arranged on request.


We supply equipment including; television, flip charts, LCD projectors, DVD player, microphones, an audio loop system and portable projection screens. 


We hold the appropriate public liability insurance to indemnify us but you should be aware that any incident of damage or injury caused by yourself or anyone employed by you to work on your event is not covered by our insurance and we recommend you review your insurance requirements in relation to your event.

Cancellation Insurance

We recommend you consider purchasing appropriate cancellation insurance to minimise your financial risk should you need to cancel your event at short notice. Please ask us about this service.


We provide free Wi-Fi throughout the House.

Terms and conditions

We are delighted you have chosen Stephens House & Gardens for your event. Your support enables us to preserve this historic building and gardens for the enjoyment of all. To assist you in delivering the perfect event we ask that you read our terms and conditions, and observe our guidelines.

  1. Please tell us exactly what you would like to achieve and how you propose to deliver it this helps us to provide the best facilities and service for your event. It also lets us advise you on what may not be possible and prevents any misunderstanding.
  2. We supply everything you need from either our in house resources or through our trusted and recommended suppliers.
  3. During your event hire period one of our team will be on hand and we ask that you comply with all their requests particularly with regard to matters relating to Health and Safety.
  4. Smoking is permitted in the gardens and we ask that you and your delegates use the appropriate receptacles provided for smoking related waste.
